The Oosterschelde is a three-mast topsail schooner fitted with modern conveniences. She is equipped with a spacious and stylishly furnished lounge with reading tables, sitting areas and a piano. Throughout the ship, the polished brass fixtures reflect the beautiful woods, comfortable seats, and inviting rooms that can be found everywhere on the vessel. Underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove help to give the interior of the ship a pleasant temperature. You will also find an extensive library containing books on several sailing areas, animal life and ships, along with documentaries on tape. The saloon, bar, and galley will ensure your time spent relaxing or eating will be just as enjoyable as any other part of your adventure.

Onboard, there is residence for up to 24 guests in comfortable cabins decorated in dark woods. Each cabin has a wash basin with warm and cold running water, a desk, space for your belongings, and a hatch or window. The bathroom facilities onboard are shared. The ship has eight twin cabins, and two cabins with room for four, all with upper and lower berths.


 
About the ship:
Originally built in 1918, the Oosterschelde underwent restoration from 1988-1992. She is registered out of Veerhaven, Rotterdam, and has a mast height of 36 m (118 ft) from the keel. The ship is 50 m (164 ft) long overall (40.12 m (131.63 ft) from stem to stern), 7.5 m (24.6 ft) wide, and has a draught of 3 m (10 ft). The total sail area on this gorgeous tall ship is 891 m² (9,591 ft
²).
