Iceland on Horseback - Western Beaches
4 days - Aug-Sep - From US $ 1,234

Day 1: Stóri-Kálfalækur - Kolviðarnes
In the morning, you will transfer to the Stóri-Kálfalækur farm. After an introduction to the Icelandic horse and its special gait, you will ride down to the shore toward the Kolviðarnes Farm. On the way, you can view the Eldborgarhraun lava field and its crater. You will leave the horses at Kolviðarnes. (25 km/15.5 mi) If the tide proves to be unfavorable, you will follow a trail on land and ride underneath Mt. Fagradalsfjall, close to Grettisbæli, the hideout of one of Iceland's outlaws during the Saga ages.

Day 2: Kolviðarnes - Traðir - Stóri-Kálfalækur
After rejoining the horses, you will start the ride on Löngufjörur, the famous horse trail on the seashores of the Snæfellsnes peninsula. You will see the mystical Snæfellsjökull Glacier, known in literature as the entrance to the center of the earth. You can feel the horses’ excitement as you take part in their joy on this extraordinary trail released by the tide. (35 km/21.7 mi)

Day 3: Traðir - Kolviðarnes - Stóri-Kálfalækur
You will enjoy another day on the golden, sandy beach. Changing direction, you will head back toward the mighty Eldborgarhraun lava field. This will present a unique experience for everyone--lava fields and mountains on one side of the trail, the Atlantic Ocean on the other. (35 km/21.7 mi)

Day 4: Kolviðarnes - Stóri-Kálfalækur
The sand will begin to turn black as you follow the outline of the Eldborgarhraun lava field. You will be able to imagine the black lava still on the move as you make your way back to dry land. The ride will end at the Stóri-Kálfalækur Farm where you will bid farewell to the guides and horses and drive back to Reykjavík. (25 km/15.5 mi)

Knee-high rubber boots are recommended for this tour.
